Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access in the Presence of Phase Noise



In the present letter, we investigate the impact of phase noise on multi-carrier wireless systems that employ non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). Specifically, we extract novel closed-form expressions for the outage probability. These expressions can quantify and evaluate the system performance for the general case in which different levels of inter-carrier interference (ICI) is experienced by neighbor carriers as well as the special case, where the neighbor carriers create the same ICI. The results reveal the importance of taking into consideration the influence of local oscillator imperfections, when assessing the performance of NOMA networks.
